This Years Slam Dunk Did Not Disappoint

(LEWES,Del.) A total of 12,017 people attended the second annual Slam Dunk to the Beach Tournament at Cape Henlopen High School.

This year's Slam Dunk To The Beach featured 5 of the top programs in the country. In addition 12 of the top 100 players in the country brought out numerous college scouts and basketball coaches.

"For the kids playing on this stage playing playing professional basketball is very likely," said Westtown Basketball Coach Seth Berger."So playing against the competition like this with exposure like this makes it more possible".

Berger's team ended up with a 1-1 record at the tournament. in two games his shooting guard racked up 33 points. Reddish was one of the seventh named to slam dunk to the beach all tournament team and received a trophy.

"It's an honor and blessing," said Cameron Reddish. "Not many people get the opportunity to hold it. I am very appreciative."

The other players named to the Slam Dunk to the Beach All-Tournament team included:David Beatty(St. Benedict's Prep, Mikey Dixon Sanford School,Luke Garza (Maret School) V.J. King (Paul VI), Nate Watson Bishop O' Connell, Sidney Wilson (St. Raymond High School, and Mikey Dixon (Sanford School).

In Sanford's second straight visit to Slam Dunk to the Beach, it was Senior Mikey Dixon who put up big numbers. Against the Dover Senators in the Warriors first game Dixon scored 39 points. Dixon and his teammates also upset the nationally-ranked La Lumiere in overtime. They fell 67 to 61.Dixon poured in 25 points in the loss.

With the success of the event and over 22,000 fans enjoying the action over the last two seasons, the Delaware Sports Commission is also proud to announce that the tournament will once again return in December 2016.
