(Salisbury, Md) - Three Salisbury schools were briefly placed on lock down Monday morning, June 18, 2018. School officials say Prince Street Elementary School went into lock down after a school staff member reported a male juvenile displaying a weapon outside on school grounds. The Wicomico County Sheriff's Department responded, and upon arrival, a School Resource Officer made contact with two male juveniles, and questioned the subjects without incident.
One juvenile had a BB gun in his pants pocket, and the other had a BB gun in his backpack. They were released into the custody of a parent, and or responsible adult, and this incident is being referred to Juvenile Services.
Nearby James M. Bennett High School and Parkside High School were also put on lock down status as a precautionary measure. No students were inside the schools, as only teachers and staff were present in completing their last day of school before summer break.
The investigation continues between the Wicomico County Sheriff's Department and Wicomico County Public Schools.
