LAUREL, Del. - HGTV’s new series, "Home Town Takeover," will be renovating small towns across America, and the town of Laurel wants to be selected.
On Saturday, residents came out to film a submission video for the show. Brian Shannon says if Laurel were to be selected, it would help with the renovation of parks, historic homes, storefronts, and more.
“We're going to get real enthusiastic and show Laurel spirit and Laurel support, and send a message to HGTV and Ben and Erin Napier so that they will select Laurel for their Hometown Takeover series .. therefore hopefully bring more people to Laurel that want to live here, work here and play here,” said Brian Shannon, Executive Director for the Laurel Redevelopment Corporation.
The town used their painted watermelon harvest buses in the video, with board member of the Laurel Redevelopment Corporation, Bill McGowan, saying, "it’s a great way to celebrate the historic roots of Laurel and one of the most important industries we have.”
Submission for “Home Town Takeover” ends February 7th.
