(SALISBURY, Md.) - The Wicomico County Police have arrested two people after a traffic stop leads to cocaine possession.
The incident occurred Tuesday 16 June 2016 at 11:10 p.m. as an officer on patrol observed a Jeep speeding and driving erratically on Route 50. A traffic stop was conducted on the jeep and a 30 pack of Natural Light beer was observed in plain sight.
After observing the bottles and determining that both the driver, Alexander McGovern, and passenger, Kristos Kokinakis, were under 21, a further search of the vehicle was undertaken. Located in the center console was a rolled up $20 bill and a baggie that was identified as cocaine.
During the subsequent investigation, the driver Alexander McGovern, admitted to ingesting "a couple lines." The cocaine seized was in an amount greater than would be considered for personal use.
Both occupants were transported to the Central Booking Unit where Alexander McGovern has been charged with Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute, Driving Under the Influence of Drugs, and Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. He is committed to the Detention Center where he is held on $15,000.00 bond.
Kristos Kokinakis was charged with Possession of Cocaine with the Intention to Distribute. He is also committed to the Detention Center where he is held on $10,000.00 bond.
