(Newark, Del) - Delaware State Police have arrested a gas station employee after he inappropriately touched a female customer early this morning in Newark.
The initial investigation has determined that the incident occurred this morning, Friday, May 22, 2015, at approximately 12:20 a.m., after a 21 year old Philadelphia, PA woman responded to the Shell Station located at 1148 Christiana Road, Newark, in order to purchase something to eat. After selecting several food items, the customer placed them on the sales counter and attempted to pay for them. However, a male employee of the store, later identified as Fnu Rajasekhar-Kuram, 30, of Newark, insisted that the customer take the items for free. The female then responded into the store's bathroom in order to use the facilities.
A short time later Rajasekhar-Kuram used a key to enter the occupied bathroom and asked the female to expose herself to him. The female refused and ordered Rajasekhar-Kuram to leave the bathroom. He refused, however, and began to touch the female victim in an inappropriate manner. The female victim began to struggle with Rajasekhar-Kuram and was finally able to break free from him and exit the bathroom. She then contacted 9-1-1. The victim sustained a minor injury but refused medical treatment at the scene.
Fnu Rajasekhar-Kuram was arrested by responding troopers and transported to Troop 6, Prices Corner, where he was charged with Unlawful Sexual Contact 1st Degree. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and then committed to the Young Correctional Institution for lack of $5000.00 secured bail.
