Two Delaware Republicans Post Derogatory Messages to Facebook

DELAWARE- Two top leaders for the republican party in Sussex County are now hearing feedback from members of their party and others after derogatory Facebook posts were found the other day.

The Delaware Republican Party announced today that New Castle County GOP Chair Chris Rowe is resigning after using a derogatory term for homosexual males. The part condemning his words and those of Sussex County Vice-Chair Nelly Jordan, calling her posts "anti-Semitic". This after top republicans Danny Short and Tim Dukes called for their resignation in an open letter.

Both Rowe and Jordan defended their word choices. While Rowe is choosing to resign, Jordan currently retains her position. The state republican party says the process is different for her as she was elected and not appointed.

In a Facebook post Nelly Jordan says, "Jews in name only" lend themselves to the impeachment hearings, which she called a hoax. She goes on to write, "These jews have been enrolled to come and testify, to come and interrogate and to be involved in anything that the Democrats enlist them to do to try to look credible to the people of this country."

While Chris Rowe was taking to the comments section of one of his posts. In a reply to one person on his page he used a derogatory term for a homosexual man.

Two members of the republican party, State House Minority Leader Danny Short and State House Minority Whip Time Dukes wrote an open letter condemning Rowe and Jordan's words. Writing in part, "Derogatory references to sexual orientation and religious affiliation should play no role in the civil discussion of public policy and our party’s political positions."

Aside from the open letter, today Dukes added, "It is important for both parties to be cautious about what they say." Rowe defended his word choice on the New Castle County GOP page writing, ""I have been using that word since before it ever meant what people are offended by today. In this context I used it for it’s impact & it was between close friends."

The Facebook page also says Rowe will be releasing a video over the weekend in response to the word he used in his post, and Rowe has tendered his resignation to the GOP.

Jordan tells WRDE she is not anti-Semitic as she has been accused, and has a great respect for the Jewish community here. She says her post expressed disappointment that individuals who know what President Trump has done for Israel would turn on him. But the state GOP disagrees, calling her words offensive and hurtful, and says Jordan will have to make the choice to either resign or go through the process to seek her removal.
