(NEWARK, Del.)- University of Delaware student Jerel Harrison, a member of the football team, has been charged with first degree assault after an incident on Thursday, Aug.13, at the Bob Carpenter Center.
According to University of Delaware Police, Harrison allegedly struck another player with a helmet in the football locker room at approximately 6:05 p.m. The player was taken to Christiana Hospital, where he was treated for injuries suffered in the incident and released.
Harrison is a senior from Richmond, Virginia, who plays wide receiver. He was charged and committed to the Howard Young Correctional Facility on $25,000 cash bail. He was also issued a no contact order with the victim and the University, and a trespass warning for the campus.
University students who are arrested are immediately referred to the Office of Student Conduct.
There will be no comment from the University due to the ongoing investigation.
