UPDATE: Transplant Recipient Serena Crawford Recovering and Relaxing

(GEORGETOWN, Del.) - Six weeks after her kidney surgery, Serena Crawford is recovering just fine in her Georgetown home.

Just days after WRDE aired the story about her husband Bill Crawford posting a sign pleading for a new kidney to save his wife's life. The University of Maryland came calling with a perfect match.

According to Serena, she received a near perfect kidney. She adds, "now I don't have any restrictions. I am free to go and I feel absolutely traffic."

The last six weeks have not been easy. The Crawford's have traveled to Baltimore multiple times a week since the transplant. She has dropped from fifty pills a day to about twenty. Serena says, "that is divided between breakfast, lunch, and dinner......Honestly, it is a small price to pay for a new life."

Bill has now taken down the sign in his front yard and the dialysis machine and material have been removed from the house. Bill says he is grateful to all involved in his wife's journey. He adds, "I just want to say thank you to everybody on Delmarva for all the love and support through out this whole ordeal and also a special shout out to AJ and WRDE news NBC."

The Crawford's have bought an RV and plan to travel while they have the chance. Serena says one day she would like to contact the donors family just to say thank you.
