(PORT PENN, Del.) - The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate the fatal shooting of a 43 year old Newark man that occurred early Sunday morning.
The incident happened around 12:35 a.m. this morning, Sunday May 31, 2015, when a 43 year old male victim was found lying in the parking lot of the VFW located at 15 West Market Street suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper torso. The victim, who has been identified as Matthew W. Kennedy, was transported by EMS to Christiana Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition until he died on Tuesday June 2, 2015. His body has been turned over the Delaware Division of Forensic Science to conduct an autopsy.
The investigation into this incident is on-going and no suspects have been identified.
