(Dover, DE) - Alton Finney, a homeless Dover man has been living out of a tent that was set up by Victory Church.
Finney says "To have something over our head because literally we live in the tents. and before that it was the parks and everything else"
Victory Church has put together a tiny house camp-out for five days to bring attention to the ever growing homeless population in Dover. Pastor Aaron Appling thinks "We just want the community to know that the homeless issue is real. What we are finding out its bigger than what most people realize."
The tents are located on East Division Street in front of Gunn Wealth Management. This is just the first step in the process in which the church wants to build fifteen tiny homes next to their property. The homes will include a kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.
Homes like these are not new and are all across the country but Victory church has been fighting through red tape and legislation. Pastor Appling wants to see more "Just come get aware of what we are doing and get behind the project if you believe and support the cause."
Lamar T. Gunn is running for Lt. Governor and supports the cause and plans to make some changes if elected.
Alton Finney is asking for more "Community can you please help because we all not doing nothing it literally is making the situation worse."
Pastor Appling, Alton Finney and others will fight for as long as it takes for legislators to hear there voice.
