DELMARVA - Sussex County is expected to wake up to cloudy, cool and potentially foggy conditions early Friday as a warm front lifts north through the Delmarva region, according to the National Weather Service.
Low clouds and fog are likely to remain stubborn through much of the morning, with patchy dense fog possible around sunrise that could reduce visibility for drivers heading out early. A few light showers cannot be ruled out, but rainfall is expected to remain limited.
Temperatures are forecast to stay stuck in the 40s and 50s through the morning as cool marine air holds in place near the surface. Forecasters say it may take until Friday afternoon for that shallow cool layer to break.
Once the warm front moves through and skies begin to clear later in the day, Sussex County should see a sharp warm-up. Afternoon temperatures are expected to climb well into the 70s as warmer air spreads across the area.
Friday evening should turn noticeably milder after the gray start, with improving conditions continuing into the night. By early Saturday morning, the county is expected to remain on the mild side as warmer air stays in place ahead of the next weather system.
