What Does The Maryland Veterans Affairs Department Do?

(SALISBURY, Md.) - Maryland Secretary of Veteran Affairs, George Owings visited the Salisbury Chamber of Commerce luncheon today.

He explained exactly what the state's department of veteran affairs does.

"We are the link if you will between the veteran and the federal government. we are made up of five programs between the department itself," Owings said.

the department first objective is to find veterans within the state and then inform them about services and benefits exclusively for them.

One of the big components of what the Maryland Veterans Affairs do is provided by the Maryland Veterans Trust. The money comes from lottery funding, donations, and more.

It's those stories which show the need for Owings' department in Maryland.

He is a Vietnam veteran himself and he encourages everyone to do more for those who have given so much for our freedom including visiting the shut in.
