Wicomico Opens Cooling Center

(Salisbury, Md) - Wicomico County Executive Bob Culver, with the support of Health Officer Lori Brewster and Emergency Services Director David Shipley have announced the opening of a cooling center to operate today (Monday) and Tuesday.

The cooling center, located at the Wicomico County Civic Center on Glen Ave. in Salisbury, will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. both days.

No pets will be permitted inside. Residents will have to bring their own food, beverages and medications, if needed.

Meantime, the MAC Senior Center will also be opened for individuals over the age of 50 who need shelter from the extreme heat. The senior center is on located on Progress Circle in Salisbury; and the center's hours of operation have been extended until 8 p.m.

Residents do not need to be affiliated with the MAC Center to find shelter there.
