Wilmington man arrested in Rehoboth

(Rehoboth Beach, Del) - A Wilmington man was arrested on domestic violence charges Friday night, May 26, 2017. Kyle Halloran, 20 years old was charged with assault after witnesses watched him punch his girlfriend in the face outside a parked car along the shoulder of First Street in Rehoboth Beach.

It happened just after 10:00 pm, officers responded to North First Street in the area of the Summer Place Hotel for a report of a physical domestic in progress. Upon arrival, officers were flagged down a short distance from the scene where witnesses had subdued and restrained Halloran who had attempted to flee the scene on foot.

During an on-scene investigation, police learned from witnesses that while arguing with the 20-year-old female victim, a resident of Westwood, NJ, Halloran pushed her into a parked vehicle and punched her in the face causing minor injury. When witnesses saw the altercation, they called out to the victim to check on her welfare, at which point Halloran fled on foot and they gave chase. The witnesses were able to catch up to and restrain Halloran until police arrived and took him into custody.

Halloran was arrested and charged with 1 count of third-degree assault, 1 count of offensive touching, and 1 count of underage consumption, which are all misdemeanor crimes. Halloran was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution but has since been released on $550.00 unsecured bail.

The female victim was treated on scene for her injuries.
