SUSSEX COUNTY, Del.-Â Nothing like finishing the first month of 2021 with a little snow.
The conditions were very cold causing some preparations to take place late last week by the Delaware Department of Transportation. Eighty plows were deployed today with 100 employees ready to go.
Erin and Cliff McCall of Milton brought their kids and a neighbor to Memorial Park to sled and play in the snow. They thought the roads were clear driving around.
"They’re good," Erin McCall said. We didn't have any issues. No ice."
"We saw a lot of snow plows this morning," Cliff McCall said. "DelDOT is taking good care of us."
Driving around Sussex County, there were not many people out during the morning hours, but once the afternoon came and the snow started to fall harder, kids and their parents came out to play.
In Millsboro, Vicente Bello and his six-year-old son Chadrey took the snow next to their mailbox and some props from inside to build a snowman.
"Hands for the sticks, we used a nose for the carrot, and for the eyes balls, and a hat for the snowman hat." Chadrey said.
Whether you spent the day shoveling, plowing, or playing the winter wonderland came and we may see it again real soon.
