REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - A J1 visa student was hurt early Wednesday when a driver struck the bicyclist on Rehoboth Avenue, according to the Rehoboth Beach Police Department.
Police said the crash happened around 1:08 a.m. in the 300 block of Rehoboth Avenue. Investigators determined that Megan Smith, 20, of Lewes, was driving a Jeep Wrangler westbound when she collided with the cyclist, causing "potentially life-threatening injuries."

The injured student was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Smith faces multiple charges including:
Forgery, a felony, related to possession of a fake identification card
Driving a car under the influence of alcohol
Failure to have insurance identification
Inattentive driving
Failed to remain within a single lane
Failure to report a crash involving alcohol or drugs
