GEORGETOWN, Del. — Patrick Kintz, a 1997 graduate of Sussex Technical High School, has come full circle as he helps build the school’s future. Now a Site General Superintendent for Kinsley Construction, Kintz is overseeing key aspects of the construction of the new Sussex Technical High School.
Kintz supervises two site construction crews responsible for demolition, excavation, grading of new stormwater management ponds, and paving. His teams are currently working on installing the new artificial turf field and relocating the visitor bleachers from the stadium to the turf field inside the existing track.
Kintz’s construction career began 15 years ago as an operator running heavy equipment. “In site construction, we use a lot of big iron to play in a giant sandbox,” Kintz said.
His journey into construction started with a passion for car stereos, which led him to enroll in Sussex Tech’s electronics Career and Technical Education program. After graduating, he moved to New Jersey and worked in landscaping before returning to Sussex County three years later, said the school.
He gained experience as a local contractor specializing in septic systems before transitioning to construction. He joined Kinsley Construction in this role three years ago and now supervises seven additional crews across five other projects, all within Sussex County.
Kintz encourages students to appreciate their time at Sussex Tech. “Enjoy it while you can. Get involved in sports and clubs—especially sports. Take advantage of all of the opportunities offered to you."
