MILLVILLE, Del. - A Selbyville man is facing multiple charges, including two felonies, after police say he resisted arrest and hurt three officers on May 14.
Delaware State Police say 30-year-old Alejandro Rivera caused a disruption at the Wells Fargo branch on Town Center Drive just before 3:40 p.m. Rivera reportedly yelled and punched walls inside the bank. Employees initially asked him to leave and then locked the doors. Police say Rivera returned a short time later and forced his way back in, prompting staff to hide in a secured room.
According to troopers, Rivera tried to enter that room but fled to the parking lot when he couldn’t get in. Officers from DSP and Ocean View Police Department found Rivera outside the bank. When they tried to arrest him, he physically resisted, hurting one trooper and two Ocean View officers before being subdued with pepper spray.
Rivera was treated and released from a nearby hospital before being taken to Troop 4. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $15,000 cash bond. (DSP)
