Cambridge man arrested on drug charges after K9 search during traffic stop

CAMBRIDGE, Md. - A man from Cambridge was arrested Wednesday night after police say they found illegal drugs during a traffic stop.

According to the Cambridge Police Department, officers pulled over a car for speeding on Cornish Drive and Greenwood Avenue. The driver was identified as 26-year-old Dwayne Eugene Dasheill of Cambridge.

A K9 unit was called to the scene to check the car for drugs. The K9 alerted officers to the presence of drugs. During a search of the car, police say they found cocaine and heroin in amounts that suggested the drugs were meant to be sold. Officers also say they saw Dashiell drop a bag of cocaine on the ground.

Dashiell was arrested and taken to the station. After meeting with a court commissioner, he was taken to the Dorchester County jail and is being held without bond.
