Jay Droney and Jordan Hastings, two ex volunteer firefighters accused of chasing a Black employee with a noose at the Millville Volunteer Fire Department.

GEORGETOWN, Del. - The cases against former Millville volunteer firefighters Jay Droney and Jordan Hastings are moving forward.

On Thursday morning, Droney and Hastings' were scheduled for preliminary hearings at the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas.Ā A court official informed CoastTV that Droney's hearing is continued and he will be back in court on Thursday, May 22.

According to that official, Jordan Hastings' attorney did a straight waiver, meaning Hastings' case automatically goes up to Superior Court.Ā 

Jay Droney and Jordan HastingsĀ face felony hate crime chargesĀ after the affidavit for the case states theyĀ chased a black employee with a nooseĀ at the Millville Volunteer Fire Company.

Neither Droney nor Hastings were present in court.Ā
