LEWES, Del. — The Lewes Community Garden will host a free community education program on May 17 starting at 9:30 a.m. The event will cover sustainable gardening and landscaping, the importance of native plants, and concerns related to pollinators.
An interactive talk will be led by Holly Fluty Dempsey, founder of ReWild Delmarva.
This is the first of three events planned by the Lewes Community Garden for the 2025 season. The remaining sessions will take place on Aug. 16 and Oct. 18. All events will be held at the garden on Park Road, located between the Lewes Dog Park and the University of Delaware's Lewes campus.
Organizers advise guests to park along the road and to bring a chair, water and sunscreen. Attendees can expect to walk a short distance on grass down a small hill. The event will be canceled in the event of heavy rain. More information can be found on the Lewes Community Garden's website.
