LEWES, Del. - The Delaware Symphony Orchestra continues its 118th season with a performance of "¡Música Bravo!" featuring Latin and Hispanic-inspired works on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Cape Henlopen High School.
Michelle Di Russo, of Argentine and Italian descent, moved to the U.S. eight years ago to pursue her dream as a conductor. Now, she is getting ready to perform in our area.
"I'm super excited. I feel that I really had a lot of freedom in creating this program and, you know, portraying something that is my whole essence," Di Russo said.
After decades, Di Russo will be the first female conductor to take the Delaware Symphony Orchestra podium.
"It's really wonderful to have her on our podium, and it's also exciting to have a program like this that is so festive and so fun and just a little different from maybe what people normally expect a symphony to do," Michelle Kramer-Fitzgerald, director of marketing and events at the Delaware Symphony Orchestra, said.
Di Russo can't wait to take the stage and show our community music from different composers.
"This program is just everything I could wish for. It's a dream program," Di Russo said.
The concert also welcomes once again guest guitarist João Luiz.
