Delaware State University will hold its 133rd commencement on Friday, May 9, awarding degrees to more than 1,000 students. 

DOVER, Del. - Delaware State University will hold its 133rd commencement on Friday, May 9, awarding degrees to more than 1,000 students, with Jotaka Eaddy, CEO of Full Circle Strategies, serving as the keynote speaker.

In attendance will be Delaware Gov. Matt Meyer, Lt. Gov. Kyle Evans Gay, State Sen. Darius Brown, State Sen. Trey Paradee, State Rep. Stephanie T. Bolden, DSU President Tony Allen and other University officials.

The undergraduate ceremony will begin at 8 a.m. in Alumni Stadium, while the graduate ceremony will follow at 1 p.m. in the William B. DeLauder E&H Theatre. Major General James Benson, Adjutant General of the Delaware National Guard, will deliver the graduate keynote. Benson, appointed in January 2025, is the first African American to lead the Delaware National Guard in its 122-year history.

This year’s commencement marks the fifth straight year DSU has awarded more than 900 degrees. Of the degrees awarded, 57 percent will go to Delawareans. And, for the first time, Early College High School students at DSU will graduate with both high school diplomas and associate degrees which is a new academic feature at the secondary public charter school.
