Fire at auto salvage business in Cambridge causes $180K in damages

CAMBRIDGE, Md. - A fire at Threesome Auto Salvage on Tuesday, April 1, in Dorchester County caused an estimated $180,000 in damage, but no injuries were reported, according to officials.

Crews with the Rescue Fire Company responded to the blaze at 5137 Cordtown Road in Cambridge. About 60 firefighters were called to the scene and had the fire under control in 45 minutes.

The flames broke out in a steel pole building measuring approximately 30 by 50 feet. According to investigators, a preliminary investigation shows the fire was accidental and started while an employee was dismantling a junk vehicle in the garage bay.

Officials said the building had no smoke alarms or sprinkler system.
