GEORGETOWN, Del. - At a recent Georgetown Town Council meeting, Georgetown Police Chief Ralph Holm Jr. said police activity increased from 1,157 incidents during the May 26-July 19, 2025, reporting period to 1,360 during the same period in 2026.
According to the presentation, assaults increased from 59 to 79, while fugitives apprehended rose from 56 to 61. During the same reporting period, crashes increased from 108 to 115, and DUI arrests rose from 11 to 27.
"I would attribute that to the increased numbers on patrol," Chief Holm said when discussing the "huge difference" in DUIs.
Calls for service during the May 26-July 19 reporting period also increased from 1,438 in 2025 to 1,878 in 2026. However, the year-to-date total declined from 5,896 to 5,541.
