GEORGETOWN, Del. - The Georgetown Public Library announces its annual Summer Reading Program Kickoff Party. Taking place at the Sandhill Fields on June 7 at 6 p.m.
This free event is celebrates the start of summer and encourages a love of reading for children of all ages, say organizers.
Activities at the library's event will include:
- Petting zoo
- Face painting
- Craft activities
- Games for all ages
After sunset, the movie "The Robot's Wilderness Journey" starts around 8:30 p.m. The library encourages attendees to bring blankets and chairs.
The library hopes that the summer reading program inspires children and teens to read all summer, preventing learning loss and fostering a love of books. Registration opens at the kickoff party, where participants can earn prizes. The event is open to everyone; no registration needed for the kickoff.
