lonely bouquets initiative

MILTON, Del. - Bouquets placed at gas stations and parks are more than just a colorful surprise for random locals, they're a part of a heartfelt initiative that Josh Fredo, the owner of Friendly Flowers in Milton, started doing in coastal towns. His goal is to spread a little joy in the local community.

"We think it's a good time to try and boost local morale," Fredo said, emphasizing the significance of small acts of kindness, especially during times when people are facing various challenges.

This initiative, named "Lonely Bouquets," has garnered support from individuals like Steve Hanlon, a Milton resident who believes that fostering more kindness is crucial in a world where isolation often prevails.

"We get a little isolated... We don't look at each other the way that we used to and we ought to start doing more of that," Hanlon said. "I think random acts of kindness do that; it forces you to get out of your shell and interact with one another."

But Fredo's goodwill doesn't stop at bouquets. He's also collecting old Christmas decorations and trees to repurpose them into unique Christmas trees. He hopes this will help to spread the cheer of the season to those who might not otherwise have the means to celebrate.

"We're repurposing them to make unique Christmas trees so that people who can't afford them can still have the Christmas cheer," Fredo explained. "If they have kids and can't afford a Christmas tree, we'll find out through different charity organizations and then donate it to them."

To participate in distributing "Lonely Bouquets" or to donate Christmas decorations, contact Friendly Flowers in Milton.
