Live DelDOT traffic cameras show congestion on the south side of the Indian River Inlet Bridge around 9 p.m. Thursday. (DelDOT) 

BETHANY BEACH, Del.- Southbound drivers on the Indian River Inlet Bridge ran into heavy traffic Thursday evening after a crash closed the road, according to Delaware State Police.

State police posted on X around 8:30 p.m. that the southbound lanes were shut down. By 9 p.m., police said the road had reopened, though DelDOT cameras still show congestion in the area. 

Details about the crash have not been released. This is a developing story.
