LEWES, Del. - The City of Lewes is one step closer to establishing a multi-million dollar resiliency fund to address environmental challenges, including flood control, stormwater management and restoration of natural areas.
During a public hearing held Monday night, city leaders presented the idea of creating the Lewes Resiliency Fund, which could raise between $3 million and $5 million over the next five to seven years. If approved, the fund would finance critical infrastructure and environmental projects.
The proposed fund is still under review by Lewes City Council. The hearing marked a key step in the process, giving locals a chance to weigh in. A formal decision has not yet been scheduled.
Public comments are still being accepted through a write-in period that remains open until May 2 at 4 p.m.
