MILTON, Del. - The partial closure of Cave Neck Road between Diamond Farm Road and Hudson road begins May 19.
The Delaware Department of Transportation announced the closure would be starting on Monday. The closure if for bridge repairs and is expected to continue through late August.
Westbound drivers on Cave Neck Road will turn left onto Hudson Road, right onto Walker Road, and right onto Diamond Farm Road to return to Cave Neck Road.

The bridge, originally built in 1913, will undergo structural improvements including the installation of steel sheet pile wingwalls with concrete copings, a moment slab, and a new guardrail.
According to DelDOT, it's a high priority project.Ā
"We have to go in and put the substructure work underneath the bridge. Since we're going to be out there doing that, we're also going to be working up on top of it as well. Just making sure that this bridge is in a much better state than it currently is," said C.R. McLeod, DelDOT's Director of Community Relations.
McLeod says there were partial closures at the more than 100 year old bridge in the past few years due to erosion but this project is meant for permanent bridge repairs.Ā
Sherri Cook was packing up her car today, getting ready to head down Walker Road where she lives.
Cook says she's not bothered by a few extra cars on her street.
"There are plenty of side streets that you can go in and out of. I live on one of them, Walker Road, and I expect there to be more traffic but in August it will be done. It will be okay, it'll be all right," said Cook.
Work is expected to be completed in August.Ā
