HARBESON, Del.- Two people were hurt Saturday afternoon in a rear-end crash that temporarily shut down a busy intersection near Harbeson.

Emergency crews from the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company were called to the intersection of Hollymount Road and Beaver Dam Road around 2:09 p.m. on May 24. Crews said the crash involved a gray Honda Accord that struck the rear of a gray Honda Ridgeline pickup truck. Both drivers remained in their vehicles but were reportedly in pain.

Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard station and Engine 80-1 from the Long Neck station responded, along with the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad. The Sussex County Paramedics, Delaware State Police Aviation Unit Trooper 2, and an EMS unit from the Lewes Fire Department were also alerted. The helicopter was later called off after medics determined ground transport was sufficient.

Officials say both people were taken to local medical facilities for treatment.

The Delaware State Fire Police shut down Beaver Dam Road between Indian Mission Road and Hollymount Road and Hollymount Road between Beaver Dam Road and Harbeson Road, while crews worked to clear the scene and investigate the crash.

The Delaware State Police is continuing its investigation.
