DOVER, Del. — Nonprofit groups from across Delaware will rally at Legislative Hall on Tuesday, May 20, calling on lawmakers to maintain vital funding that supports services many locals depend on.
Organized by the Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement, also known as DANA, the "Save Our Services" rally aims to highlight the role nonprofits play in communities and the potential consequences of funding cuts.
According to the organization, nonprofits across Delaware provide a wide range of essential services, from housing assistance and mental health support to food pantries and senior care. Collectively, they employ around 76,000 people each year and spend more than $9 billion supporting local communities.
Advocates say recent changes in federal policy have already strained many of these organizations. They warn that additional cuts to Grant in Aid funding, a key source of state support, could have a devastating effect.
Elected officials, nonprofit leaders and community members who have benefited from nonprofit programs are expected to speak during Tuesday’s event.
