FENWICK ISLAND, Del. - The town of Fenwick Island is waiting for DNREC and the Army Corps of Engineers to give them the approval to start the dredging of the Little Assawoman Bay.
But before that can happen the town is asking people who live in Fenwick Island to send in support of the dredging project to DNREC.
Some in town like Sudzy Harrison said the dredging of the canals is a big time need for boater safety but the bay could use some other updates.
"The bay could be marked more clearly as well," Harrison said. "There are certain areas where there may only be one post out there and then certain areas where there's no posts at all to help people navigate, so they could easily crash into a sandbar."
The town said people have until October 31 to send in their support to DNREC. If the town gets approval to start the dredging, there would then be a bidding process for dredgers to do the work.
