Ocean City 16th Street

A water rescue took place on the 16th Street beach in Ocean City on Wednesday morning.

OCEAN CITY, Md. - After a brave attempt was made to save a man in trouble in the ocean near the 16th Street beach in Ocean City in early September, an area hospital has confirmed the man did not survive.

One person was pulled from the ocean near the 16th Street beach in Ocean City on the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 6. According to the Ocean City Fire Department, the rescue took place just before 9:30 a.m. Rescue swimmers went into the water for a reported unconscious person. The Ocean City Beach Patrol was off duty at the time, as they begin guarding at 10 a.m.

A fire department spokesperson told CoastTV News that the swimmer was transported to Atlantic General Hospital as a priority 1, critical patient. On Sept. 15, a hospital spokesperson confirmed that the man, a 68-year-old from Pennsylvania, did not survive.
