DSP is conducting a shooting investigation that occurred shortly after 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening in the area of Bay Avenue and Slaughter Beach Road.

SLAUGHTER BEACH, Del.- Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting that left a 32-year-old man hurt during a party near the Slaughter Beach Memorial Volunteer Fire Company.

Troopers were called to the public access area at 359 Bay Avenue around 7:14 p.m. on June 12 for reports of gunfire. Investigators say the man from Dover, was attending a party at a pavilion behind the fire company when three masked people in black clothing opened fire on the crowd.

The man was shot in the lower body while trying to run away. The attackers ran off before police arrived. No surveillance footage has been made available, and how the shooters arrived or escaped remains unknown.

The man was taken to a local hospital, treated and later released.

Detectives from the Troop 4 Criminal Investigations Unit are continuing the investigation. Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the shooting is urged to contact Detective H.
