According to the Maryland Department of Natural Recourses Maryland has lifted the statewide ban on outdoor burning that was put in place to prevent wildfires.

The fire occurred in a driveway on Whitehall Drive off of Route 1 between Lewes and Milton.

Spring wildfire season has begun as forest fuels are the driest at this time and weather conditions are warm, dry, and windy. Instead of burning outdoor debris, the Maryland Forest Service recommends using it for composting or mulching yard waste, leaves, and brush.
