It was another busy week here along the coast, for all the stories you may have missed along the way, here is your week in review.
"We are going to defeat Larry Hogan, keep Maryland blue and keep our Senate under Democratic control," Alsobrooks tweeted.
Party voters in Tuesday’s primary will decide which candidate they think is in the best position to beat Hogan in November in a state that hasn’t elected a Republican senator in more than 40 years. David Trone, who’s in his third term as a congressman, and Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks are the leading contenders among the 10 candidates. Some Democratic leaders worry that the fierceness of the campaign could make the race against Hogan harder.
Maryland is set for a bustling primary election on May 14, where voters will participate in several significant races across the state.
Trone is the second candidate to announce a Senate campaign since Cardin said Monday that he would not seek reelection. On Tuesday, Montgomery County Councilmember Will Jawando announced his campaign for the seat.
