week in review

It was another busy week here along the coast, for all the stories you may have missed along the way, here is your week in review.

Monday: Senator Tom Carper visited Slaughter Beach to announce $32 million in funding to protect Delaware Bay beaches. This significant investment is intended to mitigate the ongoing impacts of climate change on the region.

Tuesday: Maryland's primary elections clarified the contenders for the state's open Senate seat in November. Former Governor Larry Hogan secured an easy victory on the Republican side, while Angela Alsobrooks narrowly defeated David Trone in a much closer race for the Democratic nomination.

Wednesday: The Sussex County Council proposed new regulations for the marijuana industry. While the county cannot outright ban the sale of marijuana as some towns and cities have done, it established guidelines for the locations of shops, cultivation centers, and other related businesses.

Thursday: The roundabout at Five Points fully opened, representing DelDOT's solution to what was formerly known as "Malfunction Junction." This is one of the latest updates to the coastal road system.

Friday: In more marijuana news, Dewey Beach adjusted the fine for underage possession of marijuana from $200 to $100. This change aligns the town's regulations more closely with state laws.
