A newborn Chincoteague pony died Saturday after suffering injuries when it was trampled by a stallion after becoming separated from its mother and herd, according to the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Co.
The Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company has reported an unfortunate event in managing the wild horse population in foaling season with the death of two foals.
One stallion has been removed from the Chincoteague herd due to believed sterility. Additionally, one foal recently passed away shortly after birth.
