According to its sponsor District 7A Delegate Kathy Szeliga (R), the bill in the Maryland house she introduced would require that only biological girls compete against other girls in scholastic and collegiate sports.

The issue of transgender athletes competing in girls' sports will now be debated in the Maryland General Assembly. A hearing is scheduled for 1:00 pm when the Ways and Means Committee will take up House Bill 47 The Fairness In Girls Sports' Act.
