The Ocean City Planning Commission has given the green light to the site plan for the new hotel, but businesses surrounding the area have lodged an appeal, aiming to delay the process of introducing another hotel to the area.

The attorney for the developer of the planned Margaritaville Hotel and Resort tells CoastTV that the sheer size of the proposal is too big. Now the attorney, Hugh Cropper, has said a smaller hotel is the answer, but that change will cost them the Margaritaville branding.

A decision on the air rights for Margaritaville could be finally decided by the town council in Ocean City. 

The town of Ocean City hosted a public hearing to discuss the possibility of granting air rights to the Margaritaville development.

Public hearings for the proposed Ocean City Margaritaville Resort are set to take place on Sept. 18 and Oct. 16.
