Margaritaville development

Now the attorney, Hugh Cropper, has said a smaller hotel is the answer, but that change will cost them the Margaritaville branding.

OCEAN CITY, Md. - The town of Ocean City will be voting on whether or not the Margaritaville project will get the green light for air rights they've requested.

The Margaritaville Beach Resort project is looking to get the air rights for the alley on Washington Lane between 13th and 14th streets.

If granted the developers have agreed to expand the alley and add a bike lane.

While some like local Greg Vanmeter said he thinks the project would attract more people to ocean city.

"I think a Margaritaville would enhance the fall and winter for people to want to visit over the colder months," Vanmeter said. "In the spring time people come over anyway, so I think it would help for tourism during the slack months."

While others worry it will add to the parking problem and won't fit with the look of Ocean City.

If the final reading is approved at the town council meeting, the Margaritaville project will be granted the air rights.
