The Maryland Department of Natural Resources and the Sport Fisheries Advisory Commission are seeking nominations for the Maryland Sport Fisheries Achievement Award. The award recognizes efforts in habitat management, research, and other initiatives benefiting the state’s fish populations and fishing opportunities.
According to DNR, studies have shown that blue catfish are voracious predators, consuming significant quantities of native species such as white perch and blue crabs, thereby disrupting the delicate ecosystem.
The work will go approximately one month longer than originally anticipated.
