Plastic pieces, food wrappers and even a purse were among the items collected along Slaughter Beach during an Earth Day cleanup event Tuesday.
The Maryland Department of Transportation is accepting applications for its Urban Tree Grant Program, a key initiative supporting the state’s goal of planting five million trees by 2031.
The Delaware Forest Service will offer over $900,000 in grants starting Nov. 1, to support local forestry projects. The program aims to foster sustainable urban forests across Delaware.
More than 180,000 trees were planted in Maryland in 2023 as part of 5 Million Trees Initiative. It brings the total for the program to 471,890 trees
The plantings are part of an effort by state government, community programs, and individuals.
