The National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
Southwestern Sussex County in southern Delaware...

* Until 730 PM EDT.

* At 651 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Laurel, or
12 miles north of Salisbury, and is nearly stationary. This storm
has a history of producing a 58 mph wind gusts and wind damage in
Bethel.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is
possible.

* Locations impacted include...
Laurel and Bethel.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

In addition to large hail and damaging winds, frequent cloud to
ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors
immediately. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough
to be struck by lightning.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

FOR SOUTHWESTERN SUSSEX COUNTY...

At 643 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Laurel, or 12
miles north of Salisbury, and is nearly stationary. A 58 mph wind
gust was measured near Bethel at 614 PM EDT.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Broadcast media.

IMPACT...Damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is
possible.

Locations impacted include...
Laurel, Sycamore, and Bethel.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 815 PM EDT THIS
EVENING FOR SOUTHEASTERN SUSSEX COUNTY...

At 502 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1
and 3 inches of rain have fallen, with the greatest totals near
Indian River Bay and Indian River Inlet. The expected rainfall rate
is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1
inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other
drainage and low lying areas.

Some locations that may experience flash flooding include...
Millsboro, Millville, Long Neck, Ocean View, Indian River Inlet,
South Bethany and Dewey Beach.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around...don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most
flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
