REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- Bark on the Boards is back in Rehoboth Beach for a good cause.Â
Many dogs compete in the dock diving dogs competition but that's not all. The Brandywine Valley SPCA runs this event to bring awareness, raise funds to keep taking care of the animals and to get dogs adopted.
One local Ann DeLazaro adopted her dog Char a year and a half ago from the Brandywine Valley SPCA and she said this event is great for not only Char but for everyone who attends.Â
"It's playtime, you know it's play time for adults. it's play time for those owners that have those dogs and compete," DeLazaro said.Â
There are people who come from all over with their dogs to enjoy vendors and see the competition. Although some like Carol Sollazzo and her family came with a mission to adopt a dog and she said they had one in mind.Â
"The dog we are are going to adopt is named Dough, we're probably considering changing his name to Harper for the Phillies player, Bryce Harper," Sollazzo said.Â
As one pup gets a happy home, Sara Smith the director of communications for the Brandywine Valley SPCA said this event is about love.
"I'm running into all these animals that I've seen before, they're from us, you know, they've been adopted by us," Smith said. "This is our family, this is the BVSPCA family coming out to support this work."
