TORONTO - Former Cape Henlopen High School pitcher Mason Fluharty made his Major League Baseball debut Tuesday night. Fluharty, who pitches for the Blue Jays, was called-in to complete the seventh inning against the Nationals. He gave up a RBI double to CJ Abrams that allowed the Nats to tie the game 3-3.

Fluharty retired the next three batters he faced. He recorded his first career strikeout in the eighth inning against Nathaniel Lowe. The Jays would go on to win the game 5-3.

Fluharty was a member of the Vikings 2018 Delaware state championship team and would pitch at the NCAA Division I level with Liberty. The Blue Jays took Fluharty in the fifth round of the 2022 draft.
