LEWES, Del. - A new photography contest is shining a spotlight on the natural beauty of Cape Henlopen State Park. The Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park, in partnership with Cape Henlopen State Park, the Coastal Camera Club and Nations Photo Lab, have launched the inaugural “Capturing the Cape” Digital Photo Contest.
The contest, which opened June 22, welcomes photographers of all skill levels to submit digital images that highlight the park’s beauty. Categories include Park Wildlife, Scenic & Landscape and Flora & Fauna. Submissions will be accepted through 11:59 p.m. on July 29.
Winners in each category will be awarded cash prizes: $100 for first place, $50 for second and $25 for third. The groups say their work will be professionally printed by Nations Photo Lab and showcased at an awards ceremony in August at the Biden Environmental Center in the park. The winning photographs will also be displayed throughout Lewes in fall 2025.
Photos must be taken within Cape Henlopen State Park and can be from any time, past or present, as long as they comply with Delaware State Parks rules. Contestants must be 18 or older, and entries must be submitted online.
