DELAWARE- Delaware Governor Matt Meyer has appointed Carrie Leishman, president and CEO of the Delaware Restaurant Association, to the newly restructured Delaware Workforce Development Board.
The board, revitalized under Executive Order #10, is focused on aligning workforce training with the state’s fastest-growing industries and expanding access to long-term employment opportunities.
Leishman brings more than 25 years of experience in Delaware’s restaurant and hospitality sector, which employs over 53,000 people across the state. She also serves as vice chair of the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation.
“I’m honored to represent the restaurant and hospitality industry — a true engine of opportunity,” Leishman said in a statement.
Under her leadership, the Delaware Restaurant Foundation has created career training programs such as ProStart for high school students and Registered Apprenticeships for culinary and management roles.
Her appointment is expected to help ensure the restaurant industry continues to play a key role in the state’s workforce development efforts.
