ELLENDALE, De- The roof of a chicken house on Maple Branch Rd. collapsed Tuesday, trapping a juvenile girl inside. Delaware State Police (DSP) worked with the fire department to rescue the girl from the building. According to DSP, she sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken by helicopter to an area hospital.
DSP says their investigation found that just prior to the roof collapse, the girl along with a 17 year old boy, a 20 year old woman, and a 14 year old girl and an 11 year old girl were working in the chicken houses on the 17,000 block Maple Branch Rd property. Approximately at 3 p.m. the boy noticed the food and water lines sagging and began yelling for everyone to get outside when the collapse occurred.
The 12 year old girl is reported to be in stable condition.
